Having Gender Affirming Plastic Surgery in the San Francisco Bay Area or Peninsula

Gender transition is a complex and emotional journey. There are multiple surgeries now possible to assist with gender affirmation, which include procedures for the body and face. Dr. Orna Fisher of Elite Transformations in the San Francisco Bay Area offers multiple procedures to help our patients on their gender affirmation journey. Dr. Fisher has been performing gender affirming plastic surgery and caring for the trans community since opening her first practice in 2011. She is member of the (WPATH).
Gender affirmation procedures available
Dr. Fisher offers these procedures, some of which may involve insurance and others that don’t:
- MTF Top Surgery
- FTM Breast Enhancement
- Body contouring including excess skin removal, liposuction, fat transfer
- Some facial feminizing procedures
- Injectable procedures
We do not offer bottom surgery. However, upon request for our existing patients that need it, we will recommend surgeons that do.
Hormone therapy
Taking hormones helps with the physical aspects of the transition, so it is generally encouraged that patients be on them for at least 6 months before any gender-affirming surgery.
What is the process for moving forward with surgery?
You will need a support letter from a mental health professional. The letter must be from a fully licensed mental health professional- PhD, PsyD, MD, or Masters- LMFT, LCSW. That specialist also needs to have experience in gender-affirming care and be familiar with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) guidelines.
For some procedures you may also need a letter from the physician that prescribes your hormone therapy.
The support letter(s) are required regardless of whether insurance is used or not.
If you are transitioning and need a mental health support letter but don’t know where to begin, it is best to get a referral from your primary care physician, but if you are bypassing that process and need assistance finding mental health support, contact the office by texting (650) 319-6800.
If you are planning to use insurance, please note that we only work with PPO plans or those where your insurance card states “no referral required”.
